AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation Supervisor, AW609 Electrical Systems - Technical Leader in PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania

Accountable for technical certification activities for the AW609 Electrical systems and to show design compliance of the technical solutions designed by the company for the purpose to the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certification of the AW609 program. Work closely with FAA and DER in finding/showing compliance to applicable technical, programmatic and certification requirements. Provide approval of documentation supporting compliance demonstration as design reports, test plan, flight test plans and related documentation artifacts. Support supplier qualification activities, including environmental qual, EMI qual reviews. Ensure conformity requirement are covered for the systems/equipment under compliance testing. Report directly to Airframe Systems - US based Products of AWPC Engineering and report functionally to Head of Airframe Systems Engineering Leonardo Helicopters. Jointly support with the Head of Airframe Systems Engineering the activities definition for planning and execution towards an efficient demonstration of compliance of the design solutions. Ensure coverage of sustaining engineering activities for the platform under manufacturing, supporting production in liaison with engineering design. The scope of this role includes the support of technical activities showing compliance demonstration for the following Electrical Disciplines: Electrical Power and Generation System (EPDGS); Electrical Wiring Integrated System (EWIS). Act as primary interface with the FAA as the type design authority for the Electrical disciplines accounted for showing compliance including coordination of DERs for approval activities. Support preparation, verification and integration of the applicable certification plans and oversight activities which show compliance. Understand, review, and endorse how the design solution, its integration at aircraft level and the certification process satisfy the Electrical System certification requirements. Support activities for request of conformity of design solutions, discussion and resolution of Issues Papers with the authority, support AW609 electrical testing and analysis necessary to show compliance to certification rules and reports from the supplier qualification activities consistent with program priorities and departmental best practices. Coordinate the substantiation of type documentation required to meet the approved certification basis, providing expertise for resolution of non-compliance, support releasing of test plans/reports in accordance to program milestones. Support on-site prototypes technical activities and production line acting as sustaining engineer. Position may be eligible for part-time telecommuting within the area of intended employment.

Develop discipline schedule in line with project requirements and monitor progresses, create planning in EVMs/Doors and prepare monthly KPIs/status, assign tasks to the team members, support them in the execution of activities, assign annual objectives and perform duties related to annual reviews, time management, PTOs, resources development and training for direct reports. Domestic and international travel required up to 10% of the time.

Job Requirements:

Master's Degree or foreign equivalent* in Electrical, Electronic or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in a technical engineering occupation.

Skills:

  • Five (5) years of technical experience involved in design, test, and analysis of electrical components and systems for developmental aircrafts including integration expertise.
  • Three (3) years of experience participating in transport-category certification programs (Part 25 or Part 29).
  • Three (3) years of experience performing Project Management duties.
  • Two (2) years of personnel management experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with EVMS (Earned Value Management System).
  • One (1) year of experience working as DER (Designated Engineering Represe tative) in front of the FAA.

Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.

Demonstrated Knowledge** of:

  • Electrical component and system testing to show compliance to system and certification requirements;
  • Understanding and practical experience in environmental qualification practices i.a.w. DO-160 standards;
  • FAA certification processes; and
  • Technical expertise necessary to be a primary Electrical interface with certification authorities.

     

*Any combination of education that has been evaluated by a professional credentials evaluation service to be the equivalent of a U.S. degree will be accepted.

**Knowledge may be demonstrated through coursework, training, and/or experience. Any and all knowledge may be gained concurrently.

OR

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent* in Electrical, Electronic or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field plus seven (7) years of progressive experience in a technical engineering occupation.

Skills:

  • Seven (7) years of technical experience involved in design, test, and analysis of electrical components and systems for developmental aircrafts including integration expertise.
  • Five (5) years of experience participating in transport-category certification programs (Part 25 or Part 29).
  • Five (5) years of experience performing Project Management duties.
  • Two (2) years of personnel management experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with EVMS (Earned Value Management System).
  • One (1) year of experience working with DER Designated Engineering Representative) in front of the FAA.

Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
