Noblis Technical Writer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Responsibilities
Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions’ to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Currently we are looking to hire a Technical Writer
The Technical Writer will be:
Subject matter expert with the U.S. Navy on surface fleet maintenance policies and procedures for Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) systems, particularly technical data, which is recorded information regardless of format, such as manuals or drawings of a scientific or technical nature.
Develop moderately complex technical information, prepare written text and illustrations, and layout and organize technical documentation.
Develop technical documentation in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and in SGML using Arbortext Editor for the Navy Publishing Application (NPA) Contenta system.
Research and interpret design reports, drawings, equipment procedures, and test specifications.
Write analytical and interpretive technical literature and procedures.
Communicate with engineers and other personnel for information gathering.
Perform Quality Assurance reviews.
This is a long term contract offering a hybrid work option, but candidates must be able to commute into Philadelphia as needed for client meetings.
Required Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism and 0 to 3 years of related experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree (HS Diploma and 6 years related work experience).
US Citizen with a DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a DoD Secret.
Must possess a strong background Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
Desired Qualifications
Arbortext Experience.
ILS System Accesses.
CONTENTA software familiarity.
Familiarity with Military Documentation Standards (MILSTDS).
Must have at least 2 years of experience in the planning and preparation of various types of technical documentation on Naval Ship Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E), Electronic and Weapons Handling Systems and Equipment along with experience in the detailed information search and interpretation of technical data in the preparation of technical documentation.
Prior experience working on U.S. Navy and/or other DoD programs preferred.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Motivated individual looking to lead growing teams.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
Posted Salary Range
USD $52,600.00 - USD $82,150.00 /Yr.
