Position Overview:

The Yard Jockey plays a crucial role in our operations by efficiently maneuvering trailers and containers within our facility's yard area. This position ensures the timely movement of goods to and from loading docks, optimizing space and contributing to the overall logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trailer Movement:
   • Safely operate yard trucks and other equipment to move trailers and containers within the yard area.
   • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely positioning of trailers for loading and unloading operations.
2. Loading and Unloading Support:
   • Assist in the loading and unloading of trailers as needed.
   • Verify documentation and ensure accurate placement of goods according to shipment schedules.
3. Yard Management:
   • Maintain order and organization in the yard area to facilitate efficient operations.
   • Conduct regular inspections of trailers and report any maintenance issues to the maintenance team.
4. Safety and Compliance:
   • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
   • Follow company policies and regulatory requirements related to yard operations and equipment use.
5. Communication:
   • Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, truck drivers, and supervisors to coordinate movements and resolve any issues that may arise.
   • Document and report any operational challenges or incidents promptly.
6. Equipment Maintenance:
   • Perform basic maintenance checks on yard trucks and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
   • Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team for timely repairs.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a yard jockey or similar role in a logistics or warehouse environment preferred.
• Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A preferred.
• Ability to operate yard trucks and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
• Physical ability to perform duties including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
