Banner University Medical Center is seeking a new Dialysis Technician. Our Nephrology physician’s work collaboratively with our nursing staff providing safe quality care to ensure the best outcomes. As a member of our dynamic team, you will play a critical role in providing lifesaving treatment. As a Dialysis Tech, you will interface with physicians, patients, family members, clinical staff and co-workers. The role monitors our patients as they undergo dialysis, including their vital signs and blood chemistry and collaborate with the RN of any abnormalities or changes. You will document treatment information, maintain inventory and ensure the patients treatment proceeds smoothly while providing premier customer service.

This position is for Full-Time Day Shift, nd this will include weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool as well as enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential as well as an 18% Night shift differential.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for initiating, monitoring and terminating dialysis treatments, ensuring the process proceeds smoothly and notifying the RN of any abnormalities. This position is also responsible for ensuring the dialysis equipment is functioning properly.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Initiates the dialysis treatment, including accessing the vascular access. Monitors the patients as they undergo dialysis, including their vital signs and blood chemistry and alerts the RN of any abnormalities. Terminates dialysis treatment and performs catheter care and dressing changes. May also administer heparin or normal saline under the direction of a registered nurse.

  2. Prepares machines and equipment for use. Ensures the dialysis machines are working properly during the treatment and replaces them when necessary. Tests and maintains RO water system. May perform routine maintenance and liaison with technical support regarding equipment that requires repair.

  3. Maintains documentation related to treatment information.

  4. Maintains inventory of dialysis supplies and equipment.

  5. Ensures a clean and safe environment, including turning over dialysis chairs between patients and cleaning and sterilizing the equipment.

  6. Works under general supervision. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts and vendors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of approved dialysis training program or one year experience in nephrology patient care and current active participation in an ESRD facility.

Current certification as a Dialysis Technician or ability to obtain in accordance with ESRD regulatory requirements. Current BLS certification.

Must possess a working knowledge of medical terminology. Requires effective interpersonal and problem solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
