The Schaefer Phoenix team is primed for growth in our new, expanded office location at 2800 North Central Avenue.

Scope of Work

  • The Operations Leader will guide and manage daily operations for assigned staff, a team of structural engineers and BIM modelers, aiming to achieve firm profitability and utilization goals through active coaching and mentoring
  • Provide quality assurance review on selected projects, timely developmental feedback to team, risk mitigation through applying technical expertise
  • Actively support Schaefers commitment to providing an exceptional client experience; to inspire, engage, prioritize, and collaborate with our existing and potential clients
  • Support VP of Operations in developing operational strategies and provide feedback to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within operational processes
  • Serve as sealing engineer for projects as appropriate

Qualifications

  • 12+ years related experience including technical expertise in designing buildings, project management and coaching and developing a team
  • SE or PE license
  • Bachelors degree in engineering (civil, structural) from an accredited university. A masters degree focused in civil or structural engineering is preferred
  • Advanced level technical skills to include structural analysis and design software and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to perform moderately complex engineering calculations and structural detailing
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and risk management skills

Working conditions and physical requirements

This work is typically done within an office environment with occasional field work at project + construction sites. When field assignments are required, the working conditions + physical requirements for field staff apply.

  • Normal core working hours will be 9 am 4 pm but may vary depending on project demands
  • Overtime work may be required based on work deadlines
  • Ability to access + navigate construction sites; may require ability to climb + descend ladders or crawl through openings
  • Some travel may be required for this position: conducting site visits, working out of area, out of state or across the state as driven by project need
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
