Responsibilities

Supervises the phlebotomy and central processing staff regarding sample collection, processing procedures and general workflow as related to patient throughput. Provides phlebotomy and central processing staff with training, technical direction, training support and resolution of problems that arise in the laboratory on a day to day basis.

The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required.

Frequent business travel to Mayo Clinic lab sites is required. Periodic attendance at recruiting events/activities that promote Mayo Clinic Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Strongly prefer candidates with relevant Associates or Bachelors degree.

  • Completion of a phlebotomy, medical assisting, lab or equivalent program.

  • Four years of phlebotomy, specimen processing, medical assisting or patient care experience is required.

  • Two to three years lead, supervisory or management experience is preferred.

  • National certification, ASCP, NHA or AMT is required.

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, decisions making, data analysis, and leadership skills. Excellent computer and applications skills
