Landpoint Survey Technician II in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Title: Survey Technician II

Department: Operations

Reports To: Senior Survey Technician/Project Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ

The Survey Technician II is an intermediate-level position within our surveying team, responsible for providing technical support by doing various analysis, computations, utilizing computers and AutoCAD software as well as perform precise measuring operations using survey instruments, for the preparation of land descriptions, drawings, and sketches.  

Key Responsibilities

Field Survey Support

  • Review documents provided by client and combine with documentation provided by Project Manager/PLS to prepare a comprehensive field package.

  • Review field data for quality control/assurance.

  • Prepare survey calculations, analysis and final map checking, review of title data, record drawings research, and client relations.

Data Management

  • Draft survey exhibits and deliverables of various types.

  • Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases or other legal documents

  • Process the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation and dimensions of land features and structures.

  • Verify the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.

  • Interpret deeds, maps, field notes, etc. to ensure proper location of boundaries and existing conditions.

  • Collects and input field data into correct folder and systems.

  • Prepare working drawings of field survey for review by RPLS to determine property boundaries.

  • Analyze electronic data and perform mathematical adjustments.

  • Determines boundary easement location between private and company ownerships.

  • Prepares maps, sketches, plats, and metes & bounds descriptions of project parcels.

  • Prepare survey deliverables and right of way plans.

  • Prepares legal reports, maps and plats for team and business partners.

  • Defines routes, areas, and sites for fee and easement acquisitions.

  • Assist in the transfer and organization of field data into digital formats for further processing.

  • Work collaboratively with survey crew members to ensure data quality control and error identification.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with the Crew Chief and crew members to efficiently complete survey tasks and meet project objectives.

  • Coordinate client needs with Project Manager, Crew Chief, Field Manager and other team members.

  • Communicate with other employees regarding project schedules.

  • Quality Control

  • Ensure all projects are conducted to a high standard which meets or exceeds client requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in surveying or related fields is preferred.

  • At least 1 year of technical experience in surveying, including ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.

  • Proficiency in using surveying instruments and software, including total stations, GPS, and AutoCAD.

  • Sound knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and procedures.

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication and team collaboration skills.

  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites.
