Job Summary

  • The Chaplain is accountable to minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of the patient and residents.

  • Assist the patients, residents and family.

  • Maintain an atmosphere of Christian, patient centered care at Avera St. Mary's Hospital.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Two units of CPE are required upon hire or to be completed within first two years of employment.

  • Background in working with the sick and dying.

  • A period of pastoral experience in a health care institution.

  • Knowledge of:

  • Some knowledge of the basic elements and the religious aspect of health care.

  • Familiarity with religious practices of various denominations.

  • Knowledge and familiarity with Ethical and Religious Directives and Advance Directives.

  • 0 – 6 months experience required.

  • Training in a health care ministry, 0 – 6 months

Work Schedule

  • Day/Evening shifts as needed; PRN

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $21.50 - $32.50 per hour
