Job Summary

  • Pharmacy Technician-in-Training assists in drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management within a variety of pharmacy environments.

  • This entry-level position participates in and completes Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program within 12 months of hire in order to become a certified pharmacy technician.

  • Upon completion of the education program and successful Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination, the technician-in-training will be promoted into the role of pharmacy technician.

  • Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program consists of 600 hours of combined didactic, simulation, and experiential learning activities.

  • Avera Health requires a two-year employment commitment upon completion of the Pharmacy Technician Education Program.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

  • Associates degree preferred.

  • 0 - 6 months experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Ability to become registered with respective state’s Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday; 80 hours every 2 weeks

  • 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and 9:00 to 5:30 (rotating every other week)

  • Occasional weekend (Every 4th Saturday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

  • Occasional holiday

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $18.00 - $24.50 per hour
