This position exists to perform and coordinate effluent limit reviews for NPDES permitted wastewater facilities. The incumbent is responsible for giving advice to and developing effluent limitations for municipal and industrial wastewater dischargers, for analyzing impact of new or revised water quality standards, and for technical analysis activities in support of TMDL development and implementation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or similar engineering field with an environmental emphasis from an accredited engineering college AND 18 months of engineering experience.
Good communication and writing skills, effective human relations skills to work with clientele and staff; problem solving skills for resolving technical matters; ability to bring projects to conclusion.
Capable of gaining competency in environmental regulatory processes and procedures.
Basic computer skills, proficient in WORD and familiar with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and knowledge of Tableau.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Engineering principles associated with wastewater design, collection and treatment of municipal (domestic) waste and various industrial waste streams for discharge to a surface waters in compliance with water quality standards.
Environmental wastewater projects that include treatment system design, permitting, construction, and/or operations.
Wastewater and water quality standards programs, policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Computer skills sufficient to use and learn databases.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with representatives of government agencies and the public.
Physical Requirements
Ability to independently work in the field, participate in inspections in adverse weather conditions and in a variety of settings at wastewater treatment facilities. Ability to carry more than 20 pounds (monitoring equipment, file boxes).
Additional Requirements
Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification nor essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
