The Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries, Division of Vital Records, is seeking a Clerical Assistant 3 to support the bureau's mission of managing a statewide registry for vital events by providing consumer support to the general public in obtaining certificates for vital events, including how to correct or amend a vital record. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will work closely in a small office environment along with a dynamic team to assist the public with obtaining certified copies of birth and death records. You will utilize your excellent communication and problem-solving skills to help customers in a timely and efficient manner.

In this role, you will screen applicants for valid identification and eligibility, accept or reject applications received both in person and by mail, and register payment. You will type information from applications into the vital statistics system, review and compare information on the record against information on the application for accuracy and completeness, as well as determine eligibility. You will also print certificates as requested, and utilize various computer applications and search methods for locating birth and death records. In addition, you will reconcile incoming funds with the balance on the register tape, prepare documents for daily deposits of revenue, and prepare daily production reports. You will use various equipment in the office to perform daily job duties, such as copier, scanner, and desktop computer.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or

One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
