Construction Safety Manager

 

Evaluates and approves construction, construction plans, and installation procedures to maintain compliance with all University regulations and mitigate issues. Inspects University buildings safety and construction policies for adherence; reviews University policies for improvements. Assists to develop a construction safety program.

Job Summary

Essential Functions * Evaluates construction plans for compliance with all University regulations. * Approves construction plans and installation procedures. * Monitors construction and confirms proper safety practices are in effect. * Resolves issues with regulatory agencies, architects, engineers, and contractors as they arise. * Inspects University buildings and ensures their adherence to current safety and construction policies. * Reviews University policies and regulations surrounding construction safety and makes recommendations for revision. * Aids in the development and implementation of the University's construction safety program. * Responds to emergencies and drafts incident reports as necessary. Physical Effort

Candidate must be capable of visually inspecting construction and maintenance sites to identify potentially unsafe practices. Candidate must be capable communicating safety principles to colleagues. Candidate must be capable of movement to and within construction/maintenance sites that inherently have uneven walking surfaces, temporary obstructions, and ladders connecting work levels. Candidate must be capable of walking, climbing, and moving within construction/maintenance work sites on a daily basis.
