System One Data Scientist Lead in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Job Title IT - Data Scientist Lead - Contractor

Job Location: Pittsburgh and Strongsville preferred

Job Summary:

The main function is to produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets.

Job Responsibilities:

• Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement.

• Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data.

• Generate and test hypotheses and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments.

• Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.

• Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, which includes, but limited to support for the online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support.

Skills:

• Experienced in either programming languages such as Python and/or R, big data tools such as Hadoop, or data visualization tools such as Tableau.

• The ability to communicate effectively in writing, including conveying complex information and promoting in-depth engagement on course topics.

• Experience working with large datasets.

Education/Experience:

• Master of Science degree in computer science or in a relevant field or equivalent work experience required

• 8+ years of relevant experience required.

Key responsibilities:

Internal client consultation to elicit and collect requirements, and communicate and align the technical team toward delivery

  • Machine learning model solution design, build, orchestration and implementation

  • Experience building solutions with model governance, risk management, and regulatory adherence at top of mind

  • Substantial experience implementing production solutions that leverage generative AI and LLMs

  • Continuous support of models deployed to production applications

    Must have technical skills/experience (ask for alternative/tool/version):

    Tech Lead experience with team of 3 or more

    Ability to take on multiple tasks/projects at one time

    Client consultation to elicit requirements and align team toward delivery

    Experience utilizing generative AI and LLMs to implement solutions

    Able to perform both rapid prototyping and software engineering to demo to internal clients and to deploy resilient and scalable solutions to production

    Flex Skills:

    Extensive hands-on experience with deploying data science solutions to production and continuously supporting 7-10 yrs

    Able to perform software engineering and data scientist roles

    Soft skills that would make a candidate successful in this role:

    Excellent communication skills-communicating to internal clients and team

    Continuous accountability and proactive communication to management team

    Ability to lead team and ensure that team members are well aligned to work sets and held accountable for production result
