ASM Global Electrician in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an immediate, full-time opening for an experienced Electrician for ASM Global/David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The candidate will be assigned to install, maintain, and replace electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in the facility and ensures that they are in good working condition, including but not limited to: interior/exterior lights, intercom systems, electrical control systems, cable wiring, and installing power connections in exhibit halls and meeting rooms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Enter, track, and effectively complete all work requests and other daily work items, including all required preventative maintenance (PM), utilizing Altum Work Order Management Software.

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

  • Read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams that show the sites of outlets, circuits, panel boards, load centers and other equipment. Install and connect wires to circuit breakers, outlets and transformers.

  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, etc., to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

  • Coordination of lighting schedule via daily review of event schedule in Ungerboeck building event software system.

  • Retrieve electrical work orders from Ungerboeck for event/show needs including, but not limited to, exhibitor/show management orders and catering.

  • Install electrical service(s) per the Ungerboeck work orders; close out the work orders in Ungerboeck.

  • Adhere to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes, as well as ASM Global job safety requirements.

  • Monitor all electrical inventories to ensure availability of supplies.

  • Maintain all equipment used and return to designated storage areas. Perform any and all cleaning of equipment after every use and as necessary to ensure good working order.

  • Careful operation and proper care of mechanized equipment including, but not limited to, heavy duty pick-up truck w/snow plow, aerial lifts and riding utility carts.

  • Adhere to DLCC sustainability and safety standards and protocols.

  • Interact with all DLCC Customers and Clients in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Perform all work in compliance with ASM Global guidelines.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Electricians must be licensed in the state of Pennsylvania and have passed the test on National Electrical Code, electrical theory and electrical building codes as required by the locals/state electrical and building codes.

  • Graduate of an accredited technical school or 1+ year hands-on experience with electrical equipment.

  • Customer Service and interaction experience. Experienced safe operation of mechanized and power equipment preferred.

  • Prior certification on powered equipment preferred with the ability to obtain future employer sponsored operation certifications per OSHA standards

  • Must have sufficient computer skills to learn and operate software such as Ungerboeck and Altum and use these programs as the primary means of understanding work assignments/details related to events and preventative maintenance. Basic ability to use MS Outlook, and Word is also required.

    Physical Demands:

  • Requires frequent walking/standing (possibly uneven surfaces), climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working in cramped positions reaching, pushing, pulling, driving, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis

  • Ability to frequently and safely climb and navigate stairs, use of escalators and elevators

  • Good eye and hand coordination and reflexes for the safe operation of equipment

  • Good visual acuity with or without corrective lenses

  • Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse on a computer

    Work Environment:

  • This position requires work inside and/or outside of the building, as needed by events and is subjected to changing climate and adverse weather conditions.

  • The worker is subjected to noise. Noise levels will vary depending on job task and events in the building.

  • Knowledge of safe operation of tools, such as sharp wheel cutters, reamers, drills, gas cutting torches, and benders, and equipment such as service carts, scissor lifts & boom lifts

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to work flexible shift/schedule including weekends and holidays.

  • Union membership, fees and dues are required upon successful completion of probationary period payable by employee.

  • Candidate will be required to join Laborers Local Union #1058 upon completion of 90-day probation
