Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Field Geologist/Environmental Scientist for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in the Pittsburgh, PA office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in environmental field data collection including drilling, soil logging, well installation and soil, groundwater and vapor sample collection. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have working knowledge of PADEP Act 2 regulations.
In addition, the candidate will have some experience in data management and technical report writing. Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical for this role.
Tasks will include:
Manage field-based tasks of environmental investigation and remediation programs. Such as field work, including soil logging, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, remediation oversight, and oversight of drilling, well installation, development operations and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
Data management, evaluation and report writing with experience drafting environmental investigation and closure reports.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, and applies applicable local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Travel to project locations including driving and potential overnight stays.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Soil Scientist, or closely related field and 4+ years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid driver's license, subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening and Medical Surveillance screening
Due to the nature of this role, US citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of experience with environmental field work (e.g. soil logging, groundwater sampling, etc.)
40-Hour HAZWOPER training
Working knowledge of PADEP underground storage tank regulations
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,000.00 - $80,000.00.
