University of Pittsburgh Faculty.Scholar.Visiting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Department of Immunology is looking to hire a new paid Visiting Scholar Position. The purpose and responsibilities of this position will focus on Polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs), which are an important feature of cellular atypia in tumors. Traditionally, PGCCs were thought to result from repeated mitosis/cytokinesis failure, leading to cells with abnormally large sizes and multiple copies of chromosomes. This project is based on a hypothesis that PGCCs form through specific molecular pathways that can be targeted to prevent their formation. Cancer biology, immunology, and bioengineering approaches will be applied to study this project. This project will provide a comprehensive understanding of the biological roles of PGCCs in cancer progression and resistance to therapy. It has the potential to identify novel therapeutic targets, contributing to the development of more effective cancer treatments.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have earned a PhD Degree in Biology or Related Field and have at least one year experience related to Cancer Immunology.
