Laboratory Research Technician

 

Performs ultrasound scan services on animals or/and human subjects. Operates sonography equipment and accessories, and applicable data analysis software and assumes responsibility for maintaining the equipment, data, and necessary supplies in the core. Supports user investigators with preparing the scan, necessary basic training of scan, data collection, and general logistics.

 

    • Performs ultrasound scan services on animals and human subjects.
    • Sets up, adjusts, and operates sonography equipment.
    • Maintains the equipment under the manufacturer's service contract and order supplies.
    • Assumes responsibility for the safety and mental and physical comfort of animal/patient subjects while providing services.
    • Assists researchers in the preparation of study, scan, data collection, data analysis as needed.
    • Coordinates daily workflow in a timely manner.

Job Summary

 

Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.

 

Essential Functions

Maneuver a 50 lb wheeled instrument safely through tight passages and in and out of elevators.

Able to stand for up to 4 hours for image acquisition studies.

Ability to set up, adjust, and operate sonography equipment

Lack of rodent allergies that would preclude handling or exposure to research animals.

Physical Effort

Daily as listed above as essential functions, sometimes 2-3 times/day.
