UPMC is looking for a Manager to support our Strategic Sourcing team at the US Steel Tower.

This full-time position works Monday- Friday, standard daylight hours. This is a hybrid position, with remote flexibility.

Purpose:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager reflects the mission, vision, and values of UPMC, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Strategic Sourcing Manager (SSM) provide strategic direction, guidance and accountability for the management of assigned spend categories for all UPMC business, and includes the following objectives: drive and deliver competitive advantage and cost savings for UPMC by managing the execution of a comprehensive commodity management approach that includes in-depth global market analysis as part of the overall detailed strategic sourcing plan, establish a strategic commodity group structure and corresponding category strategies and plans to execute UPMC requirements in the supply market and deliver the highest value through total cost of ownership solutions to the business, and interface with business leadership to ensure that effective spend management of the spend portfolio occurs at all levels of the organization and that business requirements and needs are met. The Sourcing to Pay Departmental mission is to ensure the preservation and improvement of the quality of patient care while reducing or maintaining costs and risks related to the procurement and the use of products and services at all UPMC business units and facilities through collaborative efforts and effective communication by a mode of service line steering teams and specialty sub-committees.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Group Purchasing Organization(s) to identify cost savings opportunities, program initiatives and best practices.

  • Participates and provide oversight to sourcing leads for Supply Chain initiated new product introductions, trials and product conversions.

  • Assist sourcing leads in establishing intermediary between vendors and end users, helping to screen and analyze new product introductions.

  • Negotiations/Product Screening

  • Plans, coordinates and facilitates meetings, work groups, and committees within various levels of staffing and management.

  • Promotes UPMC philosophy for implementing supply chain cost improvement initiatives, new product introductions and organizational goals.

  • Participates and provides guidance during regular business reviews with key vendors and assesses vendor performance (score cards) and impact on UPMC operating goals.

  • Support end-users and Inventory and Logistics in remediation of supply availability disruptions (backorders/recalls).

  • Assists sourcing leads in preparing product and service utilization reports and updates.

  • Monitors, implements and support utilization of electronic product request system (MedApproved) across UPMC entities.

  • Manages and edits communications and clinical literature research to support product utilization, product conversions and additions, trials and committee activities.

  • Communication/Advocacy

  • Responsible for onboarding of new hires

  • Maintain compliance to regulatory requirements and UPMC policies

  • Drive adoption of SCM technologies to enhance Sourcing's performance in categorization, analytics, contracting

  • Identifies and supports product standardization initiatives across UPMC that aligns with quality/safety/financial goals.

  • Participates in developing new programs, training efforts, product trials, departmental or organization goals and projects, etc.

  • Foster and maintain key stakeholder relationships to reduce clinical variance through standardization and to ensure that effective spend management of the spend portfolio occurs at all levels of the organization and that business requirements and needs are met.

  • Maintain a partnership with shared services such as Legal, Risk, Insurance

  • Interface with business leadership to develop collaborative service line and sourcing strategy.

  • Develop methods to track and analyze and drive improvement in cost, quality, delivery, reliability and responsiveness key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Establish a strategic commodity group structure and corresponding category strategies, fiscal plans and performance metrics to monitor and execute UPMC requirements in the supply market and deliver the highest value through total cost of ownership solutions to the business.

  • Drive and deliver competitive advantage and cost savings for UPMC by managing the execution of a comprehensive commodity management approach that includes in-depth global market analysis as part of the overall detailed strategic sourcing plan.

  • Consulting/Utilization Analysis

  • One of the following combinations of education and experience is required:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant fields. i.e. Supply Chain Management, Finance, Nursing, Health Care Management, or other healthcare related fields and 8 years of relevant experience required.

  • Associates degree in relevant fields. i.e. Supply Chain Management, Finance, Nursing, Health Care Management, or other healthcare related fields and 10 years of relevant experience required.

  • High School diploma and 12 years of relevant experience

  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.

  • Understanding of financial analysis and quantitative/qualitative assessment data.

  • Advance skills in spreadsheet, word and presentation computer applications (PowerPoint).

  • Consulting or group presentation skills.

  • Ability to organize workload and set priorities.

  • Strong communication skills, negotiating skills a plus.

  • Deliver presentations to a variety of audiences at various levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and achieve savings goals

  • Proficiency in UPMC's toolset including Office Suite, Power BI, SmartSheet, Aribao Categorization and Analytics/Premier ABI Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
