Experience: 10 years of experience with Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related. Requires skills and experience to involve: Deep C++ knowledge including compiler, linker, and optimization techniques; Understanding and debugging complex computer system issues; Expert level understanding of operating systems (Linux), computer architectures, and software architectures; Responsible for topics around performance engineering and corresponding tooling; Conduct cross-team integration of hardware and software; Familiarity with autonomous vehicle subsystems such as Mapping, Localization, Perception, Prediction, Motion Planning, and Controls; Familiarity with sensors used in autonomous vehicles including encoders, radar, cameras, and Lidar; Experience managing a team of 5+ software specialists in fields described above; Experience conducting recruiting activities such as candidate outreach, interviewing, leveling and onboarding; and Perform long-term road mapping efforts for critical AV technologies.

 

Job duties: Plan, direct, and coordinate activities in engineering of autonomous vehicle driver. Bring together subsystems to create an architecturally sound driver, with consideration of system constraints. Close engagement across the organization for cross-functional, architectural changes. Analysis to ensure SW architecture will scale to MVP needs. Ownership of system resources and performance including: End to End latency, Memory, CPU/GPU. Estimate and protect future system performance and headroom for feature development. Highlight and manage software implications of new hardware configurations. Continuous improvement of system performance and stability. Debug and resolve critical system spanning bugs. Responsible for managing and growing 10 engineers professionally including regular 1:1s, task assignment, gathering status, and creatively solving roadblocks.
