Carnegie Mellon University's Division of Student Affairs is searching for a Senior Financial Administrator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing essential support by conducting detailed monthly analysis of accounts with report generation for directors and coordinators within the division's 20 departments. You will assist with day-to-day operational oversight in support of all departmental, divisional and university financial policies with direct support of the Dining Services program. This position reports directly to the Senior Financial Manager for Student Affairs and will work closely with all members of the Finance team as a department within Student Affairs' Business and Financial Operations.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Developing business processes and standard operating procedures to support all financial functions of the university's Dining Services program.
Working closely with Dining Services staff and independent restaurant vendors to ensure accurate billing of services. Responsible for completing sales by location reports for each vendor and resolving any discrepancies, in support of weekly invoicing processes.
Conducting regular account reconciliations across multiple systems to ensure accurate reporting of financial activity, and compliance with university policies and procedures.
Processing financial transactions for Dining Services and other departments as needed. This includes purchasing card transactions, expense reports, journal entries, managing deferred revenue accounts, and other accounting activities. Responsible for the financial functions of the university's internal catering business, including paying invoices and distributing charges to university departments.
Assisting with managing meal plan programs including generating reports, transferring funds, and verifying plan usage across all locations.
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and assists with year-end closing activities.
Other duties as assigned in service to the broader Carnegie Mellon community.

Excellent communication and organizational skills including ability to prioritize work and handle several tasks simultaneously
Ability to understand and follow university guidelines and provide guidance; ability to build and maintain accurate and detailed records
Ability to interact effectively with the campus community, students, and vendors
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, or related business field required
3-5 years' experience in financial or accounting oversight preferably in an academic setting. Dining or retail industry with Point of Sale experience is preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in different stages of development.
Or combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge
