Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an accomplished Senior Software and Controls Lead (internally recognized as Machine, Systems Integration Senior Engineering Specialist) with expertise in electrical systems. This role requires technical leadership in the design of state-of-the-art electrical control systems and the seamless integration of electrical and mechanical systems.

As a pivotal member of the New Technology team, you will focus on earthmoving products, tackling exciting and technically challenging projects. This team spearheads the identification, development, and demonstration of automation technologies, often integrating information systems, safety systems, remote services, remote control, and semi-autonomous machine control systems.

Lead teams dedicated to developing, integrating, and testing complex systems with a strong emphasis on machine safety and productivity. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering differentiated product value to our global customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate across diverse business units and roles to align and flawlessly execute solution strategies, ensuring cohesive and unified efforts.

  • Leverage your extensive expertise in electrical systems to spearhead the design of advanced electrical control systems, ensuring seamless integration with mechanical systems.

  • Develop and define innovative solution strategies, crafting comprehensive plans to transform concepts into tangible on-machine demonstrations.

  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders, providing clear and concise information, and proactively addressing and resolving issues to maintain project momentum.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical degree strongly desired)

  • Deep Electrical Systems Expertise : Provides technical leadership in designing advanced electrical control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Strategy : Ability to define solution strategy and create plan to take solution from concept to on-machine demonstration

  • Collaboration : Demonstrated ability to working across organizations and roles to align and execute strategy

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

  • Communication : Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

  • Solutions : Previous experience with Safety Features, Remote Services, Remote Control, Productivity, or Electronic Architecture solutions

Top Candidates Will Have :

  • New Technology Introduction (NTI) or New Product Introduction (NPI) experience

  • Demonstrated ability bringing technology solutions to market for customer driven features (construction/automotive industry)

  • SW development creation experience

  • Electrical System Architecture experience including creating/reading electrical schematics

  • Experience working with electronics including ECM’s, Product Link, IMU’s, Cameras, Radar, Remote Control, and GNSS

  • Domestic relocation is available to Peoria, IL only for those who qualify.
