Senior Test Manufacturing Engineer (PGH)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer will directly support New Product Development (NPD) teams and will primarily focus on the design of test systems for upcoming future product platforms. This role will leverage experience with test system and automation design to effectively create Industrial Scientific future testing platform for both Manufacturing and Service Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Responsible for design of new test systems to support NPD projects. Test systems to include but not limited to GPS, Blue Tooth, LENZ (wireless mesh networking), cellular and satellite protocols

  • Leverage automation opportunities to include in future test platform and drive improvements to existing operations test systems

  • Create implementation processes to effectively source test platform to Shanghai manufacturing site and other Industrial Scientific service centers

  • Develop Sustainment plan for test systems and equipment. Ensure compliance to electrical safety procedures, product approval requirements and all quality management systems directives

  • Create data storage strategies to allow manufacturing engineers to successfully diagnose and repair broken equipment and to obtain product performance data for reliability engineering

  • Responsible for successfully documenting all test system and fixture designs and maintaining document revisions within Windchill engineering database

  • Support legacy and existing test equipment and systems as required

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

  • Reports directly to Staff Manufacturing Engineer

  • No direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & WORK TRAITS

  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and superior communication skills

  • Proven leadership in managing cross functional technical projects

  • Ability to foster teamwork through active communication and listening

  • Must show leadership skills, decision-making abilities, effective communicator, and creative thinker

  • Understanding and experience with Lean Manufacturing principles

REQUIRED

  • 5+ Years experience as Test Engineer

  • 4+ years’ experience in engineering role within a manufacturing/operations environment

PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of cellular and wireless communication systems

  • Cloud data experience

  • Lab View experience

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365

  • Experience with JIRA preferred but not required

  • Experience with Windchill preferred but not required

  • Experience with Oracle preferred but not required

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Electrical or equivalent Engineering discipline
