Hitachi Rail STS USA SIGNALING VALIDATION & VERIFICATION ENGINEER in PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania
Hitachi Rail STS USA, seeks a Signaling Validation & Verification (V&V) Engineer to work in Pittsburgh, PA, and unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location. The Signaling Validation & Verification Engineer will be responsible for delivering complex Signaling systems and subsystems that meet signaling system and subsystem requirements, in compliance with project schedule and budget (in terms of number of interfaces and/or contract value). Specific duties include:
- Delivering of system and subsystem signaling solution in compliance with Signaling system and subsystem requirements, and in accordance with quality, project schedule and budget;
- Guarantee the definition of the Signaling system and subsystem Validation Test Specification and the implementation of the Signaling system and subsystem V&V activities according to the RAMS governance directions and to the Company processes and guidelines;
- Ensure delivery of project V&V documents at Signaling System and subsystem level in cooperation with the other RAMS functions, Engineering, Operation & Maintenance and external suppliers;
- Support V&V activities through participation to projects, bidding and delivery phases: Signaling system and subsystem V&V planning, attendance to design reviews with suppliers, attendance to the field tests;
- Support that subsystems suppliers provide V&V evidence;
- Ensure the proper level of independence in the definition and implementation of the Signaling system and subsystem V&V activities in compliance with applicable Standards and Safety Integrity Levels; and
- Ensure the definition of the requirements and expected features for the testing environments/tools, needed to execute the Signaling system and subsystem Validation activities.
This position is for a roving employee who will work in Pittsburgh, PA, and unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering or information technology and eight years of experience in signaling and design development in or for the railway industry required.
Must have five years of experience with single- and double-line track and cable plan design for interlocking and non-interlocking locations.
Must have one year of experience: (i) reviewing, analyzing, and designing relay- and microprocessor-based wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established signaling design principles for European and North America signaling systems; (ii) microprocessor devices (MicroLok II) and digital application logic design; (iii) signaling application logic developing, debugging, and troubleshooting using MicroLok II Development System; and (iv) developing factory, field test procedures and performing factory and field test setup and testing of train control technology, office and other signaling systems for European and North America signaling market.
