REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager

THIS POSITION HAS NO DIRECT MANAGEMENT OR SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION SUMMARY

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operates conventional, special purpose, and computerized numerical control machines and

machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for

subsequent machining.

  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on

machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust

machine controls or control media as required.

  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

  • Set up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

  • Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly.

  • Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.

  • Install machined replacement parts in mechanism, machines, and equipment.

  • Test operation of the unit to ensure functionality and performance.

  • Operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.

  • Develop specifications from general description and craws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.

  • Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly

problems.

  • Maintenance on secondary equipment.

  • Practice good housekeeping.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Obey all safety rules, regulations, and policies.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Associate degree from two-year college or technical school; or two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.

  • Good hand -eye coordination is essential.

  • Occasionally must climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Must be able to operate milling machines.

  • Must be able to operate lathes.

  • Must be able to operate surface grinders.

  • Must be able to operate band saws.

  • Must be able to read, micrometers, calipers scales, depth gauges, measuring tapes accurately.

  • Must be able to weld (arc and mig), braze and solder.

  • Familiar in metallurgy a plus.

  • Tig, and aluminum welding a plus

  • CAD skills a plus

  • Must work around hot environments and equipment.

  • Frequently exposed to vibration.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

  • Know the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.

  • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
