Location: Plainsboro, NJ

Shift: Evening Shift/ 12 hour shifts

Hours: 11 am - 11 pm/ Mon - Fri/every other weekend/holiday - working 3 days a week

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages and Monitors the Central Transport Command Center, from the staffing office, resolving issues with transport when wrong information is put in, prioritizing and assigning existing transport requests, contact transporters when moves are not being accepted or ending in a timely matter, and checking staff sign ins.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs Central Dispatcher services, coordinating all inpatient transports, maintaining log, answering Central Transport calls, and following specific instructions of, Manager or Nursing Resources, or Administrative Coordinator. Assign moves to transporters if their available. Put in transport and non-transport moves. Contact departments when there’s an issue with a move. Transports will be prioritized by the Dispatcher and the Nursing Supervisor as follows: Unstable or Critically Ill patients Transfers to higher level of care ED admissions Patients needed for Stat procedures or testing Patients needed for Timed procedures or testing Patients for regularly scheduled procedure or testing PACU patients Research Patients Transfers to lower level of care

  2. Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department; collaborates with other caregivers/staff both within and outside the Central Transport Department, to develop effective means of enhancing patient care and service.

  3. Maintains standards of privacy and confidentiality.

  4. Accountable for improving patient care through adherence to all patient safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.

  5. Demonstrates effective communication with phone to report transport status. 6. Demonstrates caring and respect in daily interaction with staff

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Related Work Experience At least 2 years related work experience preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Heart Saver CPR or approved equivalent within the first 90 days preferred.

Handle with Care within first 90 Days preferred.
