Job Description:

This job is responsible for tool and service designs within a technical domain that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Key responsibilities include creating infrastructure tools and their integration as a service, facilitating deployment of technical solutions by developing templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation. Job expectations include looking for opportunities to improve efficiency when implementing and maintaining tools/services and embracing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Position Summary:

The Engineer is responsible for deployment, operations, and support of applications supporting Data Scientists, Modelers and Analysts. This includes providing platform security management, application and underlying infrastructure support (OS, Storage, BIA Applications, Web and Database) and ensuring processes are aligned with tactical and strategic initiatives. The role serves as liaison between the infrastructure support teams, risk partners and business sponsors or stakeholders to ensure appropriate delivery of technology solutions in accordance with business requirements and objectives. The Instabase Platform Engineer also ensures the platform is positioned for compliance with IT policies and standards for agreed upon service levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides subject matter expertise and consulting services on a range of technologies and assists Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards

  • Assists with translating business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies

  • Assists in the evaluation of reference models, blueprints and playbooks to ensure they are fit for purpose

  • Develops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes

  • Conducts on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption

  • Promotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers

  • Contributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domains

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the overall health of applications

  • Follow life-cycle oriented processes and procedures

  • Work in an Agile scrum team

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems

  • Deploy new releases of both vendor and in-house written applications using CI/CD principles

  • Designs solutions to reduce the operational and management complexity of platforms

  • Designs, implements, and maintains platform security

  • Performs platform capacity planning and management

  • Serves as an escalation point for production and/or platform issues

  • Establishes best practices and guidelines for usage of platforms

  • Works in partnership with internal development and DevOps teams

Required Skills:

  • Candidate should have 5+ years in an analytical role

  • Extensive experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting, software installation, new builds and deployments

  • Understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, including the principles of network routing and client/server architecture

  • Must be able to participate in the design and architecture of web-based applications and server technologies (Linux), Databases),

  • Candidate must have at least 2 years experience with Container, Web, Server technologiesandCI/CD tools

  • Ability to multi-task and address complex support issues in a mixed technology environment

  • Works effectively in both team member and individual contributor roles

Desired Skills:

  • Experience and understanding of Natural Language Processing products, not limited to: Python, Instabase, H2O, and other Free Open Source Software supporting Data Science.
