Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s Information Technology Parts Supply Chain software development team is looking for a smart, passionate leader to join our team with a keen sense of ownership and a strong technology mindset.

As a Senior Application Software Engineer, you will own a portfolio of products and services responsible for the ordering and just-in-time delivery of production parts required for the manufacturing of Toyota vehicles, engines, and EV batteries produced across 14+ manufacturing sites in North America. In this role, you will work with multiple business and technology leads to plan, budget, design, and develop these products and services to fulfill the objective of delivering the right parts, at the right time, and at the right location.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building IT solutions that are scalable, resilient, and highly available to service business functions for large scale and rapidly evolving manufacturing operations.

Success in this role is measured by the overall performance, reliability, security, and scalability of an application and overall cost savings for the business. This position requires deep customer-focused thinking, the ability to be hands-on, and to make faster decisions. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who are highly detail-oriented and take pride in their deliverables. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical skills, initiative, relationship building and influential communications while adhering to Toyota Way principles of Respect for People.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Partner with business product owners and developers across the DevSecOps team to manage and lead application development and support efforts across key manufacturing business strategic initiatives.

  • Focus on modern application design, code quality, and data integration with a migration path on cloud platforms and associated technologies.

  • Lead support teams in problem and incident management, including daily ticket monitoring, health check reviews, and escalations.

  • Establish relationships and collaborate with global Toyota Motor Corp systems to ensure support for integrated systems and data, alignment with technology/security standards, and strategic plans.

  • Identify best practices and implement them to solve problems and address challenges effectively.

  • Development of annual application roadmaps to document business initiatives and calculable benefits aligned with technology requirements to establish financial project budget estimates and plans.

  • Manage project resources and budgets to provide technology solutions for key business initiatives and strategies.

  • Stay current with industry trends and recommend relevant technologies and products to support business operations.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • Progressive experience in application software development and leading Agile/Scrum teams to produce products and services to support manufacturing operations.

  • Demonstrable technical leadership experience in product ownership and iterative design experience leveraging AWS/Azure Platform to deploy highly reliable and scalable cloud applications using Java, Node.js, and Angular.

  • Experience working in a professional environment requiring the ability to think critically about problems, decipher user preferences versus hard requirements, and effectively use online and onsite resources to find appropriate solutions with little intervention.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management.

  • Ability to successfully manage several projects simultaneously while balancing the workload and constraints of each.

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Experience in developing business services and solutions for parts ordering and/or logistics operations in the automotive industry.

  • Diverse knowledge of other programming languages and frameworks

  • Experience working in large, multi-faceted, and matrixed organizations.
