Job Summary

The Sales Vice President spearheads revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives for an assigned portfolio. The Sales VP will build a high-performing team, establish key partnerships, be the principal sales contact for owners, and leverage extensive hospitality industry experience to ensure the portfolio’s success in a competitive market. Exceptional communication and leadership skills are essential for this key role in driving the portfolio's sales and market presence.

Responsibilities

Job Duties & Functions

Top Line Performance

  • Lead and oversee corporate initiated projects.

  • Evaluate and track portfolio revenue performance against budget and brand benchmarks.

  • Monitor group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and booking statistics to drive portfolio performance across assigned region.

  • Develop and maintain portfolio awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.

  • Partner with Operations, Revenue, and e-Commerce leadership across a matrixed organization to develop short- and long-term strategies and facilitate initiatives.

  • Lead the development of the portfolio’s annual budget and sales plans to ensure the portfolio meets/exceeds management and owner revenue/profit goals and expectations.

Leadership and Direction

  • Maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally.

  • Sets expectations, connects to the business strategy and mission, vision, and values.

  • Motivates people to achieve goals and to do extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.

  • Removes obstacles to enable their teams to optimize performance and results.

  • Manages and leads change.

  • Develop and mentor regional sales teams to maximize potential and drive retention.

Owner Relations

  • Cultivate strong relationships with assigned owners through ongoing communication, socialization, and rapport building.

  • Run point on owner performance calls representing the full portfolio.

  • Contribute to relationships with additional owners as needed in collaboration with the assigned Owner Point of Contact (POC).

  • Identify the needs/opportunities/concerns of assigned owners and respond by leading and coordinating the development of plans to ensure owner satisfaction.

How will we measure success?

  • Attainment of regional geographic goals, as well as team goals and budgeted metrics.

  • Owner satisfaction for area of responsibility.

Work experience:

  • At least 8 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred or a combination of college degree and professional experience.

  • Prior experience leading and managing a team is required.

  • Prior multi-brand/multi-market and/or complex sales experience is required.

  • Prior experience with large owner portfolio or demonstrated success with multiple small portfolios.

  • Demonstrates creative and critical thinking skills, with knowledge of marketing and e-commerce.

  • Must have access to transportation to visit properties and clients.

  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

  • Must be able to interpret and understand financial information and data, including hotel profit and loss statements, revenue and expense forecasts, and budget development.

  • Must be able to learn and use computer-based technology.
