Schluter Systems Lp/UMS Manufacturing Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer in Plattsburgh, New York

Be proactive in providing industry-leading quality solutions to their challenges in a safe, professional, timely and responsible manner. Leading continuous improvement efforts on the manufacturing processes as a team with production and maintenance, while taking an active approach to learning new concepts and honing technical and collaboration skills through education and professional development.

Continuously monitor and support manufacturing processes to improve production flow, assembly methods, product quality, and capacity. Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing disruptions, then develop and implement sustainable countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence. Serve as an agent of change to continuously challenge and improve existing manufacturing methods and implement projects to improve safety, reduce costs, improve quality, and reduce process time. Make sure that equipment qualification, design verification, process validation, and product/process performance activities are performed in compliance with Schluter Standards and meet product drawings and specifications. Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to engineers and manufacturing personnel. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
Global Collaboration with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Maintenance, Operations Engineering, R&D, Product Management, etc.

Requirements

10 15 years experience in Process/Manufacturing Engineering (variable based on complexity) Excellent leadership, people, and project management skills. Strong technical skills with a foundation/experience in mechanical systems, heat transfer and thermodynamics, fluid power systems, electrical systems (electrical circuits, instrumentation, PLC, etc.), manufacturing processes, and automation concepts. Working knowledge of engineering software packages Comprehensive understanding of troubleshooting and programming PLCs and Robots a plus Effective systematic troubleshooting skills Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process challenges through PLC and Robot programs Fluent in the understanding and utilization of a multimeter Comprehensive investigative/documentation/reporting skills Proper use of metrology equipment (specifically calipers, micrometers, optical comparator a plus) CAD/Solidworks skills a plus Strong Problem solving and root cause decision making experience required Fundamental understanding and experience implementing Lean / Six Sigma tools a plus Familiarity with health and safety regulations Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills Strong teamwork skills (leadership)
