Spectrum Plastics Master Operations Support Specialist in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the plant Extrusion Operations Support Specialist (EOSS) is to be responsible for training, developing and supporting the blown film extrusion team members to ensure efficient and high-quality production process. The EOSS will also engage in continuous improvement efforts, projects, and activities within the Extrusion operation. The EOSS will play a crucial role of driving optimization in our blown film extrusion manufacturing processes, reducing waste, and implementing Lean methodologies to enhance productivity, gain flexibility and improve competitiveness in our plastics manufacturing plant.

What you will need to accomplish:

Safety:

  • Work safely, following all safety policies and proactively enforcing and participating in the safe work of others. Be a leading example of adherence to all internal safety procedures and policies to keep a clean and organized manufacturing environment.

  • Promote organization Core Values with a direct focus on safety, continuous improvement, and quality.

    Operational Support:

  • Provide hands-on support to the extrusion team during production runs, troubleshooting issues and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

  • Assist in the setup, calibration and maintenance of extrusion equipment.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to identify and address production defects.

    Training and Development:

  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for new hires and existing team members on extrusion processes, safety protocols, and equipment operation.

  • Develop and update training materials, one-pagers, and standard operating procedures.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, adjusting as necessary to improve operational outcomes.

    Process Improvement:

  • Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource and asset utilization.

  • Analyze production output data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

  • Reduce materials scrap loss through managing inadequate quality and escalating to leadership when there are problems that increase scrap or scrap potential.

  • Actively manage projects to aid in improving overall quality and production output, challenging the status quo through continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proactively address issues based on statistical analysis of corrective actions, collaborating with Operations, Quality, and EHS teams.

  • Aid the facility in creating and maintaining a culture of 5S in the operations areas.

    Team Development

  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in extrusion processes.

  • Participate and support the internal team compliance of established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), ISO regulations, HACCP, and Food Safety standards.

  • Perform other miscellaneous support tasks to enable the team to be successful and as requested by plant leadership.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in extrusion operations or a similar manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of extrusion processes, equipment, and safety protocols.

  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop extrusion team members.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using computer software for data analysis and reporting.

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. consistently and higher occasionally.

  • Capable of working on an 8 – 10-hour shift (Monday - Friday) and occasional weekends.

  • Intermediate computer skills to input data / interface with Material Management Systems.
