This position will provide Quality Engineering and Mission Assurance support to programs within the Armament Systems Combat Systems and Missile Products Fuzing & Warheads Operating Units . This may include production line support at supplier locations, supplier inspection and monitoring, identifying contractual Quality requirements, preparing quality program plans, inspection procedures and quality requirements flow-down, supplier process monitoring, application of lean/six-sigma tools, drawing reviews, customer interface/reports/submittals, and reviewing product acceptance data.

Position may require travel up to 25% time .

  • Provides Quality Engineering support for program/project teams. Direct support activities include:

  • Ensure conformance to all quality related customer contract requirements.

  • Ensure conformance to AS9100 / ISO9001 Quality System processes.

  • Identify and flow down supplier related quality requirements.

  • Perform on-site monitoring of manufacturing lines and supplier production processes.

  • Develop customer quality related documentation submissions.

  • Develop and implement internal and supplier inspection requirements.

  • Support receiving and in-process inspection team questions.

  • Process any program related Non-Conformance actions in conjunction with the program Material Review Board

  • Process any program related Corrective Action activities in conjunction with the Corrective Action Board.

  • Participate in Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System teams.

  • Participate in and address quality related elements of program engineering design reviews.

  • Perform statistical analysis on product yield/SPC/key characteristics data

  • Develop and communicate program Quality Plans

  • Assist with customer audits or assessments.

  • Provide knowledge of quality related best practices

  • Provide quality input to manufacturing processes including inspection and determining key characteristics.

  • Review program related supplier documentation for approval, such as Inspection Plans, Test Plans, Control Plans, Measurement System Documentation, First Article Inspection Reports, Physical Configuration Audit reports, Inspection data etc.

  • Work with customer DCMA team on required documentation or production support activities.

  • Interface with Mission Assurance, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, Production Engineering and other internal partners

  • Support continuous improvement activities through the Continuous Improvement process and database.

  • Assist or develop Quality Basis of Estimate (bids) for potential programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or Applied Science Major (math, physics, etc) plus 5 years of Quality Engineering experience;Or master’s degree plus 3 years of experience

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Manufacturing background desired including a familiarity with material science, machining processes, fine-electromechanical assembly, or electronics assemblies.

  • Strong background in inspection equipment, techniques and general knowledge of Metrology and Calibration

  • Ability to work with multiple disciplines to create and implement quality/inspection requirements for new products.

  • Solid understanding of Drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • Command of root cause determination and corrective action activities

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, presentation skills and an excellent statistical analysis ability

  • Solid Quality Tools skills (Statistics, DOE, FMEA, MSA)

  • Excellent people skills, with proven ability to work with internal customers and suppliers on quality improvement activities.

  • Experience in a highly regulated environment

  • Familiarity with Certified Quality Management Systems.

  • High Energy, results oriented, self-motivated/self-reliant, team player.

  • Computer and software knowledge specifically MS Office products; Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to travel domestically as required (sometimes on short notice)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt formal certification

  • Experience in a Defense contract environment

  • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems.

  • Solid Understanding of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA).

  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certification (CQE)

  • Experience with Deltek CostPoint and TIPQA

Salary Range: $95,800 - $143,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
