Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an Principal Cost Estimating Analyst (Level 3) / Senior Principal Cost Estimating Analyst (Level 4) in our Pricing & Estimating department. The position will be in our facility in Plymouth, MN . The selected candidate will become an integral part of the Armament Systems Pricing & Estimating team tasked with providing guidance and support to the business unit activities. The ideal candidate will be proactive and have the ability work in a fast-paced environment. This position will be located on-site in Plymouth, MN .

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Estimating material and labor costs (manufacturing and engineering) based on Request for Proposal (RFP) data requirements requested by prospective customers

  • Compiling cost, schedule, and technical elements in the development of proposals in accordance with Request for Proposal (RFP) specifications

  • Analyzing specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts

  • Calculating production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data

  • Collecting cost data from functional representatives and subcontractors

  • Preparing cost reports and presenting results to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators and customer representatives

  • Supporting risk and opportunity assessment, quantification, and analysis during the proposal process

  • Supporting Pricing & Estimating team initiatives and continuous improvement

  • Participating as a member of the contract negotiating team

  • Understanding the requirements for supplier price/cost analysis

  • Interacting with other functional areas (Business Management, Contracts, Global Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, and Logistics) to develop strategies in support of proposal requirements and deadlines.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of related experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related experience - OR - a Master's degree with 4 years of related experience

  • Experience in pricing, finance, contracts, business and/or business operations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools/applications, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 14 years of related experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of related experience - OR - a Master's degree with 8 years of related experience

  • Experience in pricing, finance, contracts, business and/or business operations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools/applications, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace/defense industry and business management experience

  • FAR/DFARS regulations experience

  • Working knowledge of material pricing techniques

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to create Microsoft Excel formulas/macros

  • Knowledge of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP)

Salary Range: $84,600 - $127,000

Salary Range 2: $104,900 - $157,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
