Weyerhaeuser Materials Supervisor in Plymouth, North Carolina

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Storeroom Supervisor for our lumber manufacturing facility in Plymouth, NC.

As Supervisor, you will provide leadership in the storeroom and procurement activities to support the facility in achieving safety, quality, and production goals. You will also be responsible for supporting maintenance to ensure continuous process improvement and excellent manufacturing reliability. Relocation assistance is available!

*Key Functions *

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Weyerhaeuser, federal, state, and local laws, and regulations
  • Safely manage storeroom & purchasing associates to include hiring, planning work, supervising work, and evaluating job performance
  • Direct the purchasing, tracking, receiving, kitting and onsite distribution of materials
  • Perform routine procurement and transaction processing activities
  • Review purchase requests and coordinate with plant associates to develop specifications
  • Source a wide variety of commodities and services
  • Prepare and publish specifications for bids, evaluate bid responses, verify history of supplier safety & service and ability to meet contract specifications
  • Interview vendors to obtain information regarding safety, quality, service & competitive pricing and provide recommendations
  • Pursue cost saving opportunities to consolidate purchases and supply management across the region
  • Lead and ensure compliance with environmental & safety initiatives
  • Assists with capital projects
  • Closely partner with the maintenance department to provide superior service in preventive & routine maintenance activities
  • Ensure vendor compliance with site safety requirements & orientation
  • Train associates and vendors in procedural requirements for site purchasing and materials management
  • Resolve service and inventory disputes between site management and vendors

The following qualifications are required:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing or supply management
  • Ability to research products/services by analyzing data and identifying cost effective options
  • Working knowledge of accounting functions (i.e. ability to complete purchase orders)
  • Effective problem-solving techniques and ability to make process improvement recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Committed to professional ethical standards
  • Customer-oriented and focused (both internal and external)
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set
  • Ability to handle large volume of work, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office, CMMS, and other windows based programs and internet skills

The following qualifications are desired:

  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Work experience in a wood products and/or manufacturing environment
  • Experience in bidding, negotiating, preparing and administering contracts and agreements
  • Experience in Maximo, SAP or another computerized maintenance management system

What we offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $66,703 – $100,055 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees can enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3 weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
