Become a Senior Advisor of Business Plan Development at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. The Business Plan Development organization is part of the Strategy, Planning and Performance organization which centralizes strategy, business planning and performance management functions for SCE. In this job you will be responsible for developing company-wide business plans. You will collaborate with teams across SCE to evaluate expected benefits of SCE activities in terms of company objectives. You will develop investment option sets to meet SCE company objectives, review trade-offs for those options, and advise senior leadership to influence business plan decisions.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine brightly!

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to build investment options designed to achieve company strategic objectives

  • Identify and develop business plan portfolios through consultation and facilitation discussions with Strategy, Operations, and Finance.

  • Evaluate business plan portfolios to understand impacts on companywide objectives and identify trade-offs based on company priorities

  • Develop presentations to summarize business planning scenarios, costs and benefits of work activities, and how the value of activities changes at different volumes of work

  • Publish and communicate finalized business plan including guidance for operating plans and evaluation of execution feasibility, financial and regulatory implications

  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

The essentials

  • Ten or more years of business analysis (e.g. financial modeling, operational planning, business case development, etc.) and/or strategic planning experience

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or other business-related field

  • Understanding of operational units (e.g. SP&E, T&D, CS, IT, etc.)

  • Experience pulling and synthesizing data from various sources, cost-benefit analysis, risk management, bow-tie analysis and/or developing business cases for SCE activities

  • Sufficient depth of expertise in focus area(s) to sense-check data and decisions

  • Experience in quantifying risk, costs, and benefits of various SCE activities

  • Experience with coordinating or developing components of the General Rate Case

  • Financial modeling skills, including operational planning or budgeting

  • Statistical analysis, bow-tie analysis

  • Strong critical thinking and analytics skills and quick learning abilities

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams

  • Ability to develop leadership communication materials (e.g. power point) and facilitate decision making conversations with senior leadership

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
