The Senior Manager of Vehicle Design and Delivery leads a team of engineers to optimize the Total-Cost-of Ownership for vehicle order specifications across approximately 300 different types of equipment, job classes, and 7,000 assets. This position manages approximately 50 suppliers and maintains contracts to support the orders and deliveries of requested assets. Leads the safety assessments, options, alternatives, and accident investigations as well as work methods for productivity and fleet modifications for improved work methods. Leads maintenance campaigns, failure analysis, DOT Compliance, ANSI compliance, OSHA compliance, and CA CARB compliance requirements for fleet procurement decisions and schedules. Communicates fleet delivery forecasts to clients and maintains Fleet Master Data.

  • Technical leadership of all staff and teams involved in vehicle Builds, Designs and fleet engineering issues.

  • Oversight of all vehicle technical records including records retention and SAP data administration.

  • Technical review of all Vehicle Modification Requests.

  • Leads equipment safety systems and accident investigations.

  • Oversight to the development and execution of the Vehicle Delivery Plan.

  • Edison Representative for fleet contract and supplier management.

The Essentials

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.

  • Experience with medium to large utility fleet truck management, utility fleet truck maintenance or supervising utility construction crew.

  • Experience managing technical staff or leading technical teams.

The Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar discipline.

  • Experience in a technical or financial capacity.

  • Fleet total cost of operating component and analysis experience.

  • Familiar with vehicle maintenance operations, costs, and planning.

  • Utility fleet equipment experience and work methods strongly preferred (Bucket Trucks, Digger Derricks, Cranes, Cable Pullers, etc.)

  • Functional knowledge of 200 vehicle types, specifications, options, work methods, and useful lives to lead the development of SCE’s replacement plans; increase vehicle utilization and develop client standards.

  • Knowledgeable of Class A DOT Truck and Driver compliance requirements, ANSI Bucket and Digger requirements, OSHA vehicle requirements, and CA CARB requirements.

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
