Summary About the Position: About the Position: This position is located in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District Office, Engineering & Construction Division, Construction Branch within the Coastal New Jersey Resident Engineer Office, located in Pomona, New Jersey. This is a term position not to exceed four years. May not be extended and cannot be made permanent. Responsibilities You will review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and requests for changes to determine site conditions, feasibility of structures and construction, and to anticipate problems. Conduct job site inspections of work in progress to ensure Contractor' work is in compliance with plans, specifications, procedures, use of materials, contract provisions and schedules, and shop drawings. Prepares routine and special reports, memorandums, and correspondence reflecting the status of construction progress, delays in construction, noted deficiencies, and compliance with standards, materials, and/or contract modifications. Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience is defined as one year of specialized experience which includes: Applying knowledge of both engineering and construction methods, techniques, materials and equipment, and safety practices in the inspection of construction projects; Preparing comprehensive construction inspection reports; Reading and interpreting engineering and architectural plans and specifications. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Building and Construction Oral Communication Quality Management Technical Competence Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
