Jacobs Emergency Management Specialist/ Traffic Services Technician - Pompano Beach, FL in Pompano Beach, Florida

As the Emergency Management Specialist/ Traffic Services Technician, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted based in Pompano Beach, FL.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with inventory, inspection, and management of roadway and facilities maintenance contracts including but not limited to Signs, Pavement Marking, Temporary Traffic Control, Guardrail, and Lighting.

  • Support the Maintenance Rating Program (MRP) and the Facilities Rating Program (FRP) teams with inspections, and Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) data collection and input.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation (Incident response).

  • Perform field and administrative work for the coordination and operation of District Emergency Operations.

  • Assist with the District Emergency Operations Center (DEOC) setup, staffing, and other activities involved in the operations of the Center.

  • Assists with the development and implementation of staffing rosters for the DEOC and other emergency plans.

  • Support Turnpike Emergency plans such as Emergency Shoulder Use plans both in the field or from the EOC as needed.

  • During periods of on-call / emergency and/or disaster recovery upon request by appropriate authority, may be required to travel to perform other assigned work for extended or evening work hours, including weekends; or respond for the welfare of the public under declared emergency conditions; overnight travel may be required for statewide meetings, training, conferences, or seminars.

  • Provide support for training and exercises including setup, transportation, and takedown as needed.

  • Provide data input into the FDOT and Turnpike GIS databases for all the activities above when required.

  • Minimum; High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.

  • Must have valid Florida’s driver's license.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.

  • Position will work out of the Pompano Beach Operations Center.

Required Licensure/Registration/Certification:

  • Within a 12-month period, incumbent must obtain and maintain certifications identified under the National Response Plan; National Incident Management System (NIMS) Courses, as available, ICS-100 through IS-706

  • Acquire a general knowledge of provisions under Florida Statute 252; and the Department Directives as part of assigned emergency operations coordination responsibilities. During same period obtain and maintaining Advance MOT certification for duration of employment.

The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
