Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

  • Manage all day to day operations of high volume Joe’s Java, Market Place, and Vending.

  • Manage hiring, training and retaining an excellent staff.

  • Delivering outstanding hospitality, food cost, labor cost, teaching and learning, sanitation, safety and cleanliness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop customer partnerships and grow the business within the hospital.

  • Communicate and train all aspects of hospital programs and standards to management and hourly teams.

  • Supervise the activities of food service personnel.

  • Interviewing, making decisions for hiring, orientation, evaluating, training and terminating for coffee shop, cafeteria and vending associates.

  • Drive your team in the areas of new product introductions and promotional programs; help to guide implementation of these items and provide training.

  • Works with Retail Service Manager in the development of area budget for supplies and manpower.

  • Develops plans to increase revenue and lower expense based on department and hospital budget.

  • Maintains favorable working relationship with departments, commercial vendors, service representatives, and technical system support staff to ensure uninterrupted or minimal interruptions to operations.

  • Participates with the Retail Service Manager in developing plans to reduce expenses and keep within financial targets.

  • Leads and or participates on hospital/system initiatives and programs which support staff, patients and community.

  • Ability to learn, transfer learning, train and hold shift leaders accountable for knowing, demonstrating and effectively utilizing systems, tools, processes, and equipment which enable customer loyalty and increased profitability.

  • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.

  • Approaches conflict in a constructive manner.

  • Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

  • Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health.

  • Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

     

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Associates Degree, preferred.

  • 3-5 years of increasingly responsible restaurant/food service/ supervisory experience

  • ServSafe Certification required

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to interface effectively with all levels of management in the field and at the SSP corporate offices

  • Ability to effectively influence through knowledge, relationship management and trust.

  • Ability to conduct gap analysis between desired and current state of expressed goals, based on business planning ,knowledge or basic business operations, employee satisfaction, consumer satisfaction and marketing effectiveness.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including delivering presentations at public meetings

  • Effective organizational maturity to prioritize daily, weekly, monthly and yearly activities.
