Nursing Director

Registered Nurse

Department: Women’s and Children

Location: Trinity Health Oakland

Position Purpose

The Director is accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer for planning, organizing, leading and evaluating the operations of several patient care areas in order to assure optimal patient outcomes, nurse and patient satisfaction, and to continuously improve care and care processes as prescribed by the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. In addition, the Director is accountable to practice in accordance with the standards established/endorsed by Trinity Oakland leadership and by external regulators and accreditation agencies. The Director actively promotes the Trinity Oakland Model of Care and the nursing profession, in fulfillment of the Quality Plan for Nursing. The Director is accountable to drive nursing practice through facilitation of shared governance. The Director is expected to abide by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. The Director fosters integration of care processes on their units and within other units, departments within the Trinity Oakland.

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) required

  • Master’s Degree preferred

Licensure

  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.

  • Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred.

  • Membership in a professional nursing organization is preferred

Experience

  • Three years of experience in a nursing management role, with demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing practice, the fundamentals of departmental operations, personnel management and budgeting

What you will do:

• Develops strategic goals and programs which actively support the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization, and the Quality Plan for Nursing.

• Uses data and evidence to guide best practice and continuous improvement

• Collaborates with care team members to create a motivating environment that supports the value system of Shared Governance, patient driven care, continuous quality improvement and professional practice.

• Fosters partnerships with physicians and other care team members that result in effective planning and implementation of care processes for groups of patients.

• Ensures successful implementation of organizational change through appropriate utilization of resources and effective application of project management and change strategies
