Job Description :
This role provides leadership and technical direction for a team comprised of Mechanical Reliability Engineers supporting multiple PSM manufacturing units on its journey to achieve World Class Maintenance and Reliability Performance based on benchmarked industry standards at the Indorama Port Neches Facility. This team identifies and manages asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. The team identifies production losses and high maintenance cost assets through analysis and recommends and implements improvements that include best operating strategies, best maintenance practices, changes of design, and preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies. They are the "go to team" on all matters related to mechanical equipment and process reliability, help diagnose faults and over-see time critical repairs. They are involved in the design and installation stages of capital projects for new assets and modification of existing assets. This position reports to the Maintenance Engineering Manager.
What will be expected of you?
The individual must be a proven leader who can achieve daily, yearly and long term asset reliability, safety and cost goals through application of Maintenance best practices site wide. The individual must have a good working knowledge of maintenance, reliability, PSM and MIQA best practices. This person must have the organizational capability to work across multiple businesses and systems, and be able to communicate well with operators, mechanics, peers and leadership. They must be able to lead multiple improvement programs and mentor professionally trained personnel. Requires presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. Must be available by phone 24/7.
Manage Improvement Projects
Work with Operations Unit Leaders, the CAPEX Team, and the Reliability Team to prioritize improvement projects for the Team based on cost, benefit, risk analysis, and resource availability.
Ensure project management best practices and all management of change procedures are followed.
Advise project managers for equipment repairs, new equipment procurement and new equipment installations.
Develop scope of work, manage cost, timing, resources, and progress to meet deadlines.
Support capital projects by:
Developing Scope of Work for Projects. Participating in equipment selection and layout to optimize “maintainability”. Promoting consistency by standardizing equipment. Providing technical expertise for installation, check-out, maintenance procedures and start-up of all new critical equipment. Assuring necessary spare parts are identified and inventoried.
Leadership, Mentoring, and Engineering
Provide direction, guidance, mentoring, training growth and assignments that develop skills and capabilities of the Team.

Status of all improvement programs by Engineer
Maintain unit engineering support responsibilities and serve as a technical resource for the team.
Keep current with technical developments in Asset Management through study, trade journals, technical societies, and seminars.
Continually promote consistency by standardizing procedures/equipment/operations.
Develop, lead, and implement programs/systems/processes that improve reliability, OEE and cost.
Participate in interviewing and mentoring of new reliability co-ops, interns, and engineers.
Follow instructions and perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Technical Support for Operations and Maintenance
Provide technical support and oversight for all aspects of equipment troubleshooting and maintenance repairs both on-site and off-site including special tooling, kitting parts for planned outages, written instructions, etc.
Provide maintenance and engineering repair recommendations for all plant stationary and rotating equipment including engineering and procurement specifications for equipment.
Make periodic inspections of all equipment and provide technical input to the Maintenance coordinator and Operations management for determining criticality of scheduling equipment down for needed maintenance.
Provide engineering support as required for unit inspections and turnarounds.
Maintain Maintenance procedures through periodic reviews.
Define and setup critical spare parts to ensure they are on-hand when needed.
Participate in mechanical turn-around teams to provide input into needed equipment inspection and repair procedures.
Safety and PSM
Ensure Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance as it relates to mechanical integrity, engineering design, relief devices, process safety information, maintenance related procedures and all applicable document retention requirements.
Ensure adherence to Management of Change procedure for all modifications and new installations.
Reliability & MIQA
Coordinate Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) when trigger points are met & implement corrective and improvement plans.
Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk Based Inspections (RBI) and other reliability techniques.
Provide analysis of equipment trends, historical data, and OEE data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.
Champion foundational Maintenance Reliability Programs that include, Pumps Running, Piping, Infrastructure/Structural, Lube-it, Steam Trap Maintenance, Oil Analysis, Vibration Analysis, general PMs, PM Optimization, etc.
Ensure MIQA (Mechanical Integrity Quality Assurance) systems meet requirements of OSHA Process Safety Regulation.
Ensure that the activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality, and responsible care requirements).
Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company required training programs.
What are we looking for in the Ideal Candidate?
10+ years reliability/maintenance experience in a petrochemical or refining facility.
Must be able to obtain and maintain current TWIC certification
Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
Support manufacturing areas 24/7
Requires climbing ladders and accessing scaffolding.
Requires a broad knowledge of engineering principles governing petrochemical operations. Must have experience (10+years) in the chemical industry with extensive background in plant operations and equipment. Possess the ability to coordinate the activities of personnel in all matters necessary to run in a safe environmentally compliant reliable and efficient manner.
Must have high technical and analytical abilities to handle operational problems and plant compliance concerns with quick diagnosis and prompt decisions. Must have the ability to motivate and influence people. Good communication and diplomacy skills as this position will work with employees at all levels of the organization.
