Job Overview

As a member of our Commercial Projects division, you will join other experienced employee-owners in building some of Maine’s most recognizable buildings in our varied commercial portfolio which includes projects in housing, hospitality, higher education, healthcare, and other commercial spaces.

The Project Manager plays a key role in establishing and maintaining sound relationships with owners and strategic partners such as architects and subcontractors. You will manage through all construction phases, balancing project deadlines and costs with owner expectations of schedule, quality, and budget. This includes the creation of project scope and completion plans to ensure uninterrupted forward progress on the construction project. The Project Manager will partner with a Superintendent forming a well-coordinated building effort.

Job Requirements

  • Develop a clear, complete understanding of project scope by reviewing plans, documents, and estimates.

  • Create a solid project completion plan and milestone schedule - establishing priorities, scheduling activities, developing clear benchmarks, and assigning responsibilities to ensure uninterrupted forward progress on the construction project.

  • Anticipate, identify, and promptly address issues that impact performance in risk, financials, or timing of project delivery.

  • Translate project goals into operational practices and communicate to project/team members.

  • Maximize efficient processes in executing owner billing, manage cash flow, and forecast project financials using construction software and technology tools.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum five years of related experience in the construction field with experience managing projects ranging from $3 to $25 million.

  • Knowledge of construction financials and financial risk with the ability to apply to work on the job site.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.

  • Ability to manage customer relationships and develop new business opportunities.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to lead and manage complex projects from start to finish with excellent attention to detail while working under pressure of deadlines.

  • Ability to lead and motivate project/team members and subcontractors.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.

  • Knowledge and experience with construction software and technology (ProCore, Sage Timberline, Microsoft Suite, and MS Project preferred).
