We are seeking an Electrical Inspector (CM Engineer 2) to join our Portland, OR team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inspection & Testing:

  • Conduct on-site detailed inspections of electrical work, including materials, installation, testing, calibration, and commissioning to ensure compliance with engineering plans, specifications, codes, and standards.

  • Verify that electrical equipment and components such as electrical panels, switchgears, transfer switches, transformers, photovoltaic cells and equipment, lighting fixtures and controls, and other power and communication equipment meet material specifications, quality, and safety standards.

  • Ensure that construction practices and material installation comply with applicable local and national codes and regulatory requirements.

  • Witness and/or perform tests of electrical continuity, cable insulation resistance, and system grounding in compliance with engineering plans.

  • Conduct Final System Acceptance walkthroughs.

  • Complete punch-listing logs.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of inspections, including daily reports, checklists, and photographs.

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive inspection reports, highlighting any deviations from specifications or standards and recommending corrective actions.

  • Document non-conformance issues and follow up to ensure they are addressed and resolved.

  • Coordination & Supervision:

  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to address and resolve any issues related to electrical quality and compliance.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to ensure that project teams understand and implement necessary changes.

  • Participate in meetings and discussions related to project progress, quality control, and safety.

  • Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure that all electrical work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards

  • Monitor on-site safety practices and ensure that all personnel adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

  • Identify potential safety hazards related to electrical elements and recommend measures to mitigate risks.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards for electrical inspections.

  • Provide feedback and recommendations for improving quality control processes and procedures.

  • Stay current with industry trends, advancements in technology, and regulatory changes to continuously improve quality standards.

  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical inspection, quality control, or a related field.

  • Relevant certifications in inspection, such as Electrical Inspector Certification or equivalent, are highly desirable.

  • Ability to use various electrical test and measurement equipment, including voltage and amperage meters, conductivity meter, power supplies, and megger insulation testers.

  • Ability to review and interpret project electrical drawings and technical documents, including communications, pump stations, single line diagrams, and electric panel schedules.

  • Ability to review and interpret other engineering discipline drawings and technical documents, including utility, architectural, mechanical, and fire protection.

  • Knowledge of electrical and safety building codes, systems, and trade practices.

  • Knowledge of low and high voltage power systems protection and controls.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate findings to various stakeholders.

  • Work independently with limited supervision.

Technical requirements:

  • Ability to write technical reports

  • Web based storage systems

  • Thorough understanding of document control systems

  • Computer literate

  • Knowledge and understanding of QC/QA, Materials Engineering, and construction activities preferred.

Other miscellaneous qualities:

  • Ability and willingness to commute to project site locations to perform work

  • This role involves on-site inspections, documentation, and reporting to verify that all electrical work, including materials, installation, testing, calibration, and commissioning meet quality and safety standards.
