Portland General Electric Energy Analyst/Senior Energy Analyst in Portland, Oregon

SUMMARY

As an Energy Analyst/Senior Energy Analyst at Portland General Electric, you will have the unique opportunity to lead the commercial and strategic approach for maximizing value and effectively managing risks associated with PGE's power supply portfolio. You will develop structured proposals for complex energy deals, create models and market strategies to assess economic value, and manage price risks across the enterprise. A successful candidate will have strong analytical thinking skills, business acumen, and financial modeling expertise. This role offers a chance to be at the forefront of shaping Oregon's sustainable energy future, working with cutting-edge technologies and strategies in the rapidly evolving power industry. You'll play a crucial part in PGE's mission to deliver clean, reliable energy while tackling climate change through innovative solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Energy/Risk Management Products and Strategies - Design, market, and implement energy and risk management products and strategies to reduce costs, optimize assets, and reduce risks associated with PGE's resource portfolio and wholesale market activities.

New Energy Resources Contracting - Conduct research and analysis to support contract negotiations, competitive bidding, procurement activities, and related transactions.

Market Analysis - Research changing market dynamics and fundamental drivers that could impact price or availability of fuel and related assets, providing analysis and recommendations.

Outbound Marketing - Perform activities and analyses to support outbound marketing efforts, conduct analysis of wholesale energy markets, and recommend opportunities for bilateral partnerships, contracts, and asset transactions.

External Relations - Participate in industry forums, conferences, and regulatory proceedings.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or other related field. MBA or MS in finance, economics, or related financial discipline preferred.

Experience

  • Energy Analyst: Typically two or fewer years in economics, trading, financial analysis, or related field. Senior Energy Analyst: Typically two or more years in economics, trading, financial analysis, or related field and/or highly specialized skills or knowledge in a related area.

Compensation Range:

$68,850.00 - $135,750.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
