The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are adding an experienced Designer to join our growing Fire Protection team in Portland. As a Designer , you will work on large, complex designs for our projects in Oregon and SW Washington areas. If you have three years of work experience, are proficient in Revit or AutoCAD/AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD preferred, and have strong project management skills, then this may be the role for you. Other responsibilities for this role include:
Starting from Sales handoff, you will be expected to create project specific layouts to meet project specifications, published standards, as well as state and local building codes.
Make necessary changes and provide detailed feedback to Senior Designer.
Attend BIM coordination meetings.
Assist in submittal packages including hydraulic calculations.
Assist fellow designers on additional projects
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
3-5 years work experience required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
Proficient in HydraCAD, AutoCAD/AutoSPRINK & Revit required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based software systems required.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time required.
Ability to deal with conflict and build positive team relationships required.
Has or can obtain NICET Level II in water-based layout within 6 months of hire required.
Experience leading project and delegating work preferred.

The pay range for this position is $29.55 - $44.00 per hour; however, base pay offered my vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
