Summary
As a Vibration and Lubrication Engineer and you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of PGE's power plants.
You'll be at the forefront of preventing equipment failures by:
Diagnosing and troubleshooting vibration issues in turbines, generators, and other critical components.
Developing and implementing lubrication and vibration programs to optimize equipment performance and longevity.
Leveraging advanced technologies like vibration analysis and oil sampling to identify potential problems early on.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and optimize maintenance strategies.
Maximizes generating plant availability and reliability and minimizes PGE generating asset damage by providing sound engineering solutions to complex problems through expertise in reliability principles and asset management programs.
Performs analysis and investigation of system performance via a variety of tools, techniques and principles.
Develops engineering solutions to address issues impacting system availability and reliability.
Provide functional and economical engineering solutions to operations and maintenance problems through the improvement and maintenance of plant safety, reliability, efficiency and regulatory compliance in a responsible and progressive manner.
Provides engineered solutions for new plants and retrofit of existing generation facilities. Maintains and improves the operation, reliability, safety and regulatory compliance of the company’s generating resources. Plant maintenance engineering consists of all applicable engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Standards
Scoping, development, and execution of a formal vibration/lubrication/ultrasonic collection and analysis program and execution of a maintenance optimization effort for PGE generating assets.
Maintains currency in state-of-the-art engineering practices and discerns the need for and provides guidance and direction to colleagues on engineering processes and standards.
Provides guidance using knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other reliability-based improvement programs; provides expert technical guidance to other engineers.
Facilitates detailed RCM analysis using multidisciplinary internal teams (civil, mechanical and/or electrical) and outside consultants as necessary.
Leads plant improvements with expert knowledge of maintenance engineering principles and local codes and standards. Applies plant and plant control system knowledge to investigate, identify and clearly define plant problems; provides technical guidance and support to other engineers and customers. Provides expert technical guidance on cost-effective maintenance solutions to contractors and other engineers.
Engineering Production
Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects, coordinates multiple discipline activity.
Participates in or leads complex equipment design changes and new equipment to identify potential failure modes and optimize design, cost and reliability.
Develops maintenance strategy that improves reliability and minimizes downtime and manages and directs work of complex reliability projects.
Participates in or leads the development and review of investigations to determine root causes of events and recommends corrective actions to prevent recurrence of the same or similar events, minimize plant downtime and improve safety and human performance; negotiates and obtains acceptance from supervisors and managers within different PGE departments that must implement the corrective actions.

Project Coordination
- Actively coordinates with other internal/external team members on complex projects, representing the team to internal and external stakeholders (i.e., regulatory, technical society, etc.). Leads projects with complex design, construction, operation, maintenance or testing elements in support of plant maintenance engineering.
Knowledge Sharing
Serves as a technical specialist and provides consultation/guidance to project teams in a particular practice area; actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring; implements resource management strategy.
Develops and delivers more complex training of other engineers and crews on operations and maintenance practices and requirements. Provides and coordinates updates on critical safety and reliability topics to operations personnel. Participates in industry-related events for the purpose of benchmarking and learning about best practices.
Qualifications:
Required, Principal p4 level:
Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in any applicable engineering discipline. ABET accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency preferred.
Experience: Typically eight or more years in engineering
Certifications, Licenses and Training: Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; may be required based upon role.
Preferred:
Expert in the theory and application of condition-monitoring technologies such as vibration/oil/ultrasonic analysis, thermography and advanced pattern recognition.
CMRP, CRL, CBM/PdM certifications highly preferred.
Formal training in vibration analysis (ISO Category II— Analysis I or above) and oil analysis (MLT Level 1 or above) experience is a plus.
Advanced knowledge and ability to implement RCM, RCA, CAP, FMEA and reliability-based process improvement methods and techniques.
Competencies

Compensation Range:
$96,300.00 - $189,875.00
Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
