The Position

Job Appointment: Full-Time

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am-5 pm. An alternate schedule may be available.

The Regulatory Program Specialist positions serve as enforcement, administrative and general staff support for the Private For-Hire Transportation Program. The Private For-Hire Transportation program is responsible for permitting, regulating and enforcing towing, taxi, limousine, shuttle, tour vehicle, horse-drawn carriage, pedicab, ride share, and Transportation Network Companies regulations pertaining to motorized and non-motorized vehicles for hire.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Processing and investigating complaints

  • Routine field inspections to identify companies or drivers operating without required City permits

  • Processing permit applications and renewals

  • Data entry of driver, vehicle and company information

  • Conducting routine field inspections

  • Periodic audits of records related to compliance with Code requirements or performance standards for regulated businesses

  • Preparing and issuing determination and penalty letters and other notices

  • Preparing meeting agendas and minutes for the Private For-Hire Transportation Board, and other Boards and subcommittees

  • Tracking notices of violation and code hearing appeals

  • Providing testimony at code hearing appeals

  • Maintaining general files and filing systems

  • Preparing reports; providing administrative and enforcement support for special projects; and extensive customer service by phone, in the office and the field.

Additionally, these positions review applications, permit qualifications and compliance with all requirements for permitted drivers and companies. The Regulatory Program Specialists also conduct various compliance activities outdoors in the field, and work hours may vary including weekends, late nights and holidays. Applicants should be prepared to work in inclement weather conditions. The shift may include swing shifts, holidays, and weekends.
