Team or Function Overview

The National Accounts Retail Sales Intern is responsible for supporting our sales and marketing efforts at large national big-box home Improvement locations.

National Accounts Retail Sales Internship

Put your classroom studies into practice in the real world and gain the experience to help determine your journey after graduation. At GAF, we’ll ensure you get going on your first day with a comprehensive orientation into our company. In our program, you will have the opportunity to work in the field, participate in quarterly business meetings, and work cross-functionally with other RSRs/SSRs in the field meeting contractors, retail store pro desk teams, and outside sales reps who call on Managed Accounts

GAF is looking for a National Accounts Retail Sales Intern. The ideal candidate for this role is majoring in Business, Sales, Marketing, and Finance, and would be looking to consider a career in sales once they finish college. The intern would be assigned to one of our five managers and asked to do several specific projects related to the National Accounts Retail business.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Gain hands-on experience by being in the field 3-4 days/week

  • Work with the local GAF Retail Sales Rep to learn the business

  • Interns will visit Retail stores, and work with store associates daily

  • Outbound phone calls to Non-Certified Contractors who have signed up for GAF Rewards to learn and help them develop their business

  • Participate in storm recovery efforts (travel may be required)

  • Working PRO Days events as scheduled in local markets

  • Cold-calling new contractors to learn about their business

  • Presenting at our QBR Meetings

  • Research our competitors online and provide reviews/comparisons

  • Outbound phone calling to Retail Stores key contacts (Home Depot & Lowes) and their outside Field Personnel to assist them with building their business

  • Learn GAF Roofing products and use this knowledge when talking with key retail store personnel, contractors, and business owners

  • Gain practical experience using Salesforce CRM and Tableau Data metrics to analyze and make recommendations to grow sales

  • Take on other projects as assigned

  • Some travel may be required

Physical Demands

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and travel without assistance routinely

  • Ability to position self to bend, pull, and reach overhead and/or below shoulder level to perform filling functions, lifting, carrying, and moving of up to 50 lbs of products/materials occasionally

  • Frequent driving, moving about, sitting, walking, and standing; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling

  • Ability to wear and work in PPE occasionally

  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps occasionally

  • Excellent written, organization, and communication skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • The successful candidate must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and an anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and May 2026

  • Ability to travel minimally within assigned territory if needed

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, without visa sponsorship now and in the future.

All GAF internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however, there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer. Transportation, F-1 and HB-1 visa sponsorship will not be provided in association with these positions.
