We're hiring for a position open to both Senior and Principal candidates. The level will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills during the interview process.

Senior or Principal Cloud Solutions Architect

Overview

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Architect with a focus on leading complex cloud projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI is a plus) and associated services.

  • Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and best practices.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and efficient cloud solutions.

Architectural Leadership

  • Develop and communicate the cloud architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the cloud engineering team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system engineers, and security experts, to integrate cloud solutions seamlessly.

  • Drive optimization efforts to ensure cost-effectiveness, performance, and reliability of cloud infrastructure.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard cloud infrastructure and data.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies.

Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting

  • Establish monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address performance issues.

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and provide solutions for complex technical challenges.

Cloud Architecture and Strategy

  • Proficiency in developing and communicating cloud architecture strategies aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Expertise in designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.

  • Ability to lead architectural initiatives and provide technical guidance.

Automation

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and practices.

  • Experience in infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices.

  • Ability to design and implement automation and tooling to deploy and manage applications efficiently.

Security and Compliance

  • Strong understanding of cloud security measures and best practices.

  • Experience in implementing security controls in regulated environments.

  • Ability to enforce compliance with internal security policies and industry standards.

Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting

  • Ability to establish and manage monitoring and alerting systems for cloud infrastructure.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues across various platforms and application domains.

  • Experience in maintaining and deploying systems for metrics, logging, and monitoring.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system engineers, and security experts.

  • Experience in driving optimization efforts and ensuring cost-effectiveness, performance, and reliability of cloud infrastructure.

Project and Resource Management

  • Experience in managing and implementing resiliency and scale plans aligning with product roadmaps.

  • Ability to outline areas for improvement, remove bottlenecks, and reduce friction in processes.

  • Skills in working on cross-functional teams and projects to deliver best-in-class solutions.

Senior IT Solutions Architect

Job Function

Solutions Architecture Designs and develops IT architecture (integrated process, applications, data and technology) solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. Performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications. Researches and develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies.

Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conformance Review (CORE) Plans formal reviews of activities, processes, products or services. Evaluates and independently appraises the internal control of automated business processes based on investigative evidence and assessments undertaken by self or team. Ensures that independent appraisals follow agreed procedure and advises others on the review process. Provides advice to management on ways of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of their control mechanisms. Identifies and evaluates associated risks and how they can be reduced.

  • User Experience Evaluation (USEV) Advises on achievement of usability (including health and safety and accessibility) of specific visual design approaches and their suitability for different audiences. Advises on what to evaluate and type of evaluation. Manages evaluation of systems, products or services to assure that the stakeholder and organizational requirements have been met, required practice has been followed and systems in use continue to meet organizational and user needs. Evaluates design aspects of web tenders and proposals, including wireframes and mock-ups. Ensures that the results of evaluations are understood by system developers. Influences design teams to take action on the findings of usability tests.

  • Solution Architecture (ARCH) Uses appropriate tools, including logical models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of systems architectures in specific business or functional areas. Produces detailed component specifications and translates these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products. Within a business change program, assists in the preparation of technical plans and cooperates with business assurance and project staff to ensure that appropriate technical resources are made available. Provides advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.

  • Systems Design (DESN) Specifies and designs large or complex systems. Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and ensures they are applied effectively. Reviews others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology. Contributes to policy for selection of architecture components. Evaluates and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and assesses and manages associated risks. Ensures that the system design balances functional, service quality, security and systems management requirements.

  • Emerging Technology Monitoring (EMRG) Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise, assesses their relevance and potential value to the organization and contributes to briefings of staff and management.

  • Consultancy (CNSL) Takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution. Identifies, evaluates and recommends options, implementing if required. Collaborates with and facilitates stakeholder groups as part of formal or informal consultancy agreements. Seeks to fully address client needs, enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of client personnel, by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately exploited.

Education/Experience/Certifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering management or equivalent work experience in related discipline.

  • Typically, eight or more years in related field.

  • TOGAF, ITIL, ARCHIMATE certification preferred.

  • Solution Architecture (ARCH) Leads the development of architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers. Takes full responsibility for the balance between functional, service quality and systems management requirements within a significant area of the organization. Establishes policy and strategy for the selection of systems architecture components and coordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency. Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to. Within a business change program, manages the target design, policies and standards, working proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure consistency of design across projects within the program.

  • Systems Design (DESN) Controls system design practice within an enterprise or industry architecture. Influences industry-based models for the development of new technology applications. Develops effective implementation and procurement strategies, consistent with business needs. Ensures adherence to relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security).

  • Emerging Technology Monitoring (EMRG) Coordinates the identification and assessment of new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies, products, methods and techniques. Evaluates likely relevance of these for the organization. Provides regular briefings to staff and management.

  • Consultancy (CNSL) Manages provision of consultancy services and/or management of a team of consultants. In own areas of expertise, provides advice and guidance to consultants and/or the client through involvement in the delivery of consultancy services. Engages with clients and maintains client relationships. Establishes agreements/contracts and manages completion and disengagement.

Compensation Range:

$113,925.00 - $233,610.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
