Jacobs Technical CAD/GIS Environmental Task Lead in Portland, Oregon
Our Northwest Ecosystem Restoration Science and Planning (ERSP) Team is seeking a Technical CAD/GIS Environmental Task Lead to define solutions for environmental projects across the Northwest and beyond. Our interdisciplinary team of planners, biologists, cultural resources experts, geomorphologists, GIS specialists, and stream restoration engineers support public and private sector projects in transportation, water, renewable energy, utilities, and more. You will use your technical skills to develop plans, sketches, drawings, and construction documents for natural resources restoration, environmental permitting, and landscape architecture design. The Technical Delivery Lead will report to Bellevue, WA but may reside anywhere in the Western United States. This is a hybrid work environment and most work may be performed remotely; however, travel may be required for specific internal or external meetings or project needs.
Here’s what you’ll do:
With your technical skills, you will develop plans, sketches, drawings, and construction documents that support natural resources restoration, environmental permitting, and landscape architecture design.
Utilize various mapping and drafting programs to resolve system interoperability issues, conduct impact studies, and establish best management practices.
Manage GIS databases and ensure comprehensive data management and QA/QC processes
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Geospatial Science, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, or related field.
10-15+ years’ experience in GIS analysis, including GIS data translation between mapping and drafting (i.e., AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
Experience in preparing geographic materials for technical reports and environmental permit applications, as well as producing design sheets for projects involving planting design, ecological impacts, restoration (involving wetlands, streams, shorelines, floodplains, wildlife habitat, or other ecologically sensitive areas), and stormwater infrastructure.
Demonstrated experience developing large-scale A/E design drawings, including plans, details, and profiles.
Thorough understanding of projections and ability to understand and translate date between custom project defined projections and standard projections and coordinate systems.
Extensive experience working with ESRI software products (e.g., ArcGIS, AGOL).
Working knowledge of CAD file management, including sheet set manager, application of scripts, templates, CAD standards, and other production tools.
Experience using ProjectWise and PDF file readers to manage drawing files.
Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with our interdisciplinary ERSP team.
Highly organized with the ability to work independently to meet project goals.
Ability to travel as needed for project assignments, meetings, and pursuits.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
Knowledge of design-build and/or progressive design-build contract models.
Experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or MicroStation InRoads.
Background in graphic production, with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, or other computer rendering platforms.
Experience in developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and managing project delivery to meet client expectations and financial goals.
