Galvion Environmental Health and Safety Manager in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

THE OPPORTUNITY

The EH&S manager provides strategic direction, management, and oversight, aligned with Global EH&S, for occupational health, safety, environmental, and sustainability issues including site certifications, and federal, state & local regulations. This position is hands-on and requires direct production floor interaction to support EH&S actions. The majority of EH&S actions will occur with the largest manufacturing site, Tactical Head Solutions (THS) in Newport, Vermont with additional manufacturing in Marlborough, MA and Portsmouth, NH to be supported as required. This corporate-wide role also maintains EH&S oversite of a manufacturing facility in Poland.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

People:

  • Work with production, engineering, and quality leaders across all company sites to identify, update, approve, and implement EH&S actions (new and improvements).

  • Identify and manage site personnel training, documentation and process changes.

  • Identify and manage appropriate site review and disbursement of EH&S documentation in alignment with ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 14001:2016 requirements.

  • Interface with external customers, suppliers, and auditors in reviewing and discussing the EH&S system and policies as well as the ISO 14001:2016 system.

  • Provide technical support to site personnel for improving the EH&S environment at each site.

  • Work in both office and manufacturing environments.

Process:

  • Prepare and manage the completion of agency, governmental and contractional reporting working with the Galvion contracts group.

  • Manage and maintain any permit compliance.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain routine regulatory EH&S data submissions as required (OSHA for example).

  • Lead and develop the EH&S teams (e.g. Emergency Response Team, Safety Committee, etc.) and participate in Management Review and Leadership Planning.

  • Identify, implement, and manage recurring site EH&S training.

  • Evaluate and act upon new EH&S regulations.

  • Implement, manage, and maintain ISO 14001:2016 at Galvion.

  • Responsible for EHS budget and expenses across the Galvion sites.

  • Proactively identify EH&S hazards or risks through audits, gemba, or inspection activities leading and implementing effective corrective actions to address identified issues.

Performance:

  • Achieve and maintain the ISO 14001:2016 EMS certification through NQA at all US manufacturing sites.

  • Maintain or improve EH&S performance against objectives and KPIs.

  • Show improvements to EH&S execution that complies to changing demands of Galvion customers.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • BS degree in Environmental Engineering or related field required.

  • MS degree in Environmental Engineering or related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in EH&S management in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in ISO 14001:2016 systems is required.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Highly motivated problem solver.

  • Ability to communicate issues and work with others in a team approach.

  • Ability to flex schedule to support investigations, training, and travel.

Work environment

  • Travel is required between Galvion facilities in the U.S., Canada and Poland

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds required.
